What is Study Island?
Study Island is an online learning platform that provides 3rd-8th grade students at TCDS the opportunity to grow in their grade level Arizona State Standards in Math, English Langauge Arts, and Science.
What is a Blue Ribbon?
Students earn a Blue Ribbon when they achieve mastery of a single grade level standard. Every 3rd-8th grade student is expected to earn 100% of their grade level Blue Ribbons in Math, English Language Arts, and Science by May 3rd, 2019.

August 27th, 2018 – May 3rd, 2019
When will my child be working on Study Island?
Students will have periodic opportunities to work on Study Island at school and will be expected to work at home as well. TCDS offers “Open Lab” to students after school hours in order to work on Study Island. This is a free service and is offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:50-3:50 beginning the week of September 4th. Parents are to request an “Open Lab” sign up slip from their child’s teacher in order for their child to participate.

What’s the Blue Ribbon Challenge?
The Blue Ribbon Challenge is two-fold:
- Individual students will be recognized for reaching milestones throughout their Study Island journey. Students enter the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% Clubs once they complete that percentage of their grade level Blue Ribbons in Math, ELA, and Science. These students will be recognized during Monday morning Flag, earn a special Club button (designed by students), and receive an invitation to a celebration for reaching each milestone!
- The class in each grade level (elementary) and CREW (middle school) that shows the most percentage growth of Blue Ribbons earned each week (Thursday-Friday) will be recognized during Monday morning Flag. The class from each grade (elementary) and CREW (middle school) who has been recognized the most weeks throughout the challenge earn a party!
